Amazon extends its employee work-from-home policy until June next year: except for warehouse employees

American e-commerce company Amazon will allow corporate employees to work from home until June 2021. As confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia have surged again in the United States, Amazon is the latest company to postpone the reopening of offices.

"We will continue to put the health of our employees first and follow the guidelines of the local government," an Amazon spokesperson said in an email. "Employees who can effectively complete their work at home are welcome to continue to do so until June 30, 2021."

Amazon has previously stated that employees can work from home until early 2021. The uncertainty of school reopening makes it more difficult for employees with school-age children to return to work.

Alphabet's Google company announced a few months ago that until July 2021, the company will continue to allow employees to work from home. Technology companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and Square have told employees that they can permanently telecommute if they want.

An Amazon spokesperson said that the company "invested a lot of money and resources to ensure the personal safety of employees who choose to come to the office through physical isolation, deep cleaning, temperature checks, and the provision of face masks and hand sanitizer."

However, Amazon warehouse employees, mainly blue-collar workers, continue to work in facilities across the United States, which has raised concerns about the safety of the work environment and caused many disputes within the company. (Chenchen)
